The
"Tiger" is presented for the first time
at the worldwide exhibition of internal State
security, Milipol 2009. The Tiger is designed
and manufactured by the Defense Company MDT Armor
Corporation. The Tiger is based on a commercial
off-the-shelf Dodge RAM 5500 platform. The MDT
Tiger is a cost effective, highly armoured, light
protected all-terrain vehicle for a crew of 6-9
soldiers. It is mine and blast protected, with
various add-on armor options, includind reactive
armor. The front row has three-in-a-row seats
for driver, navigator and commander. In the rear,
3, 4 or 5 passengers can ride facing forward.
The rear cabin can also accomodate 6 passengers
in two side-facing rows. The
COTS Dodge platform ensures widespread support
and cost effective maintenance.
The
Tiger MDT Armor can be fitted with a remote
controlled weapon station armed with weapons
up to 12,7 mm calibre, or one man turret.
Protection
The 8.8 ton GVWR allows with a standard
armor package for a 1.5 ton payload, including
reactive armor defeating RPG rockets and
EFP charges. The unique encapsulated cabin
allows easy access to all components. The
capsule can easily be removed and re-mounted,
allowing its installation on a new platform,
increasing its life and ensuring low life
cycle cost.
Propulsion
The Tiger MDT Armor is motorised with a
powerful Cummins 350 HP diesel enginne with
a power of 350hp at 3,013rpm., large wheels,
and a 127" wheel base offer exc eptional
all terrain capabilities. The advanced suspension
system ensures a comfortable ride for the
crew. This engine achieves a peak torque
of 650lbf at 1,500rpm (reaching a maximum
of 3,800rpm) with a six-speed Aisin automatic
transmission. Under manual transmission
this engine produces peak torque of 610lbf.
The MDT armor Tiger LPV can traverse all
types of terrain, cruising to a range of
610km (with an option for auxiliary tank)
with soldiers and equipment.
Accessories
The
spacious cabin, with a flat floor throughout
and vertical walls, allows for various seating
and equipment mission dependent arrangements.
Windows on all 4 sides allow for improved
situation awareness. Optional gun-ports
on all 4 directions allow for accurate small
arms operation. Seating for a driver, navigator
and commander is made available in the front
row and the rear can accommodate three to
five passengers facing forward. The rear
cabin can also accommodate six passengers
facing each other. It also has an option
for a 2l or 4l MedVac.
