MAPLE RESOLVE 2018, largest annual military training exercise for Canadian army with the participation of 5,500 military personnel focused on validating three Level 6 headquarters from 5 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group (5 CMBG) from 13 to 24 May at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright, Alberta.

Saab has received an order from the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) for deliveries of the Carl-Gustaf® M4, the latest version of the Carl-Gustaf weapon system, to the Swedish Armed Forces. With this order, five countries have ordered the new system since it was launched in late 2014. Delivery will take place during 2018.

It has been discussed for a while: the M1 Abrams and M3 Bradley need to be replaced by successors. Army Secretary Mark Esper announced that a top priority is given to the "new infantry fighting vehicle, which is what the first Next Generation Combat Vehicle (NGCV) will be." The challenge is immense, as it will also encompass remote control technology to an unprecedented level.

Prototypes of the Taifun air-droppable armored vehicle designed for the Russian airborne force are currently undergoing state trials, Chief of the Airborne Force’s Automobile Service Lieutenant-Colonel Ilya Ivanov said. "Under the R&D work, prototypes have been developed on the basis of the Taifun vehicle and are currently undergoing state trials," Ivanov said. "If the trials are successful, the vehicle will be accepted for operation and its deliveries will start," he added.

Oshkosh Defense, LLC, an Oshkosh Corporation company, announced yesterday that it has been awarded two delivery orders, totaling $235.2 million, from the U.S. Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) to recapitalize vehicles in the Army’s Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Trucks (HEMTT) and Palletized Load System (PLS) fleets.

Defence Ministry (MoD) of Latvia has launched the second stage of negotiated procedure for procurement of light and medium 4x4 tactical vehicles. With effective operational deployment across Afghanistan and Iraq, the Bushmaster has proven its effectiveness across urban landscapes as well as mountainous regions, making it uniquely suited to Japan’s geographic and urban environments.

Czech Company Zetor engineering unveils a prototype of its new 4x4 armoured vehicle called GERLACH during the defense exhibition IDEB 2018 that takes place in Bratislava, Slovakia. The vehicle was full developed by the Company based on the experience of troops deployed during modern combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan using similar wheeled armored vehicles.

This month, footage emerged of a Syrian system dubbed 'Golan-1000'. Based on a T-72 tank chassis with desert camouflage, the Golan-1000 is a self-propelled rocket system that, according to Sputnik International, carries 500mm rounds. The vehicle carries three launchers for the rockets, which are fired from a remote control.

During the Press Trip for Eurosatory 2018, French Defense Industry has unveiled the prototype of the Jaguar EBRC 6x6 armored, a new development of a 6x6 Reconnaissance and Combat Armoured Vehicle for the French Army under the program EBMR Scorpion (Engin Blindé Multi-Rôles - Armoured Multi-roles Vehicles).

The Afghan National Army Special Operations Corps introduced Afghanistan and the world to its newest formation, the Cobra Strike Kandak, at the inaugural classes live fire exercise at Pol-e Charki, Afghanistan, April 30, 2018. The graduating class of 650 Commando-qualified soldiers are now the 6th Cobra Strike Kandak, soon to be taking part in offensive operations against the Taliban.

Radar and other electronic detectors have become an integral part of ground warfare, which make it that much harder for soldiers to hide on the battlefield. So, the Army wants uniforms woven out of a material that will absorb rather than reflect radar waves.

The fire-fighting tank GPM-72, manufactured by UkrOboronProm SE “Lviv Armored Plant”, is approved for operation by the armed forces of Ukraine. This decision was made by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine after successful completion of departmental tests.

The Russian Defense Company Uralvagonzavod, manufacturer of main battle tanks has developed a new concept of tracked amphibious armoured vehicle, called BMMP, which can be used by naval infantry units. The development of the BMMP will be lead by the Russian Company OmskTransMash, a subsidiary of UralVagonZavod.
