Design
and protection
The
design of the Chinese Wolf 4x4 is standard with the powerpack
at the front, the crew (driver and commander) in the middle,
and the infantrymen at the rear with four individual seats.
There is one more seat to the middle rear of commander and driver
for the soldier who operates the roof-mounted machine gun. To
the front and side of the commander and driver are bulletproof
windows. In either side of the hull is a forward-opening door.
A large door is provided in the rear of the hull which opens
to the right and is provided with a small bulletproof window.
Over the top of the troop compartment are two roof hatches that
open outwards. In either side of the rear troop compartment
are two bulletproof vision blocks with a firing port on side,
which allow some of the soldiers to fire with their individual
weapons from inside the vehicle. The Wolf 4x4 provides a ballistic
protection for the crew against 7.62mm armor piercing bullet
at the front, and 7.62mm standard bullet for side and rear of
the hull.
Propulsion
The
Wolf 4x4 of Shaanxi Baoji Special Vehicles Manufacturing is
motorized with a Dongfeng licensed built Cummins EQB150-20 110kW/2,700R
turbo-charged diesel 112 kw power. The vehicle is fitted with
a four-wheel drive with independent suspensions. The Wolf is
able to reach a maximum road speed of 110 km with a maximum
road range of 600 km. The four-wheel drive gives a high standard
of cross country and urban maneuvering capability. The can vehicle
can ford water up to a depth of 0.75m without preparation and
1.2m with extra kit. Obstacle clearance includes steps up to
45cm and ramps up to 60%.
Accessories
A
self-recovery winch is mounted at the front of the hull. Tools
are available to each side of the hull. Optional equipment includes
surveillance systems, camera mounted on telescopic mast, smoke
grenade dischargers, searchlight, Central Tyre Inflation System
(CTIS), night vision equipment and various types of communications
equipment. The top of the vehicle could be equipped with flash
lights and alert loudspeaker.
