The President
is the commander General of the armed Forces. The
Chief of Joint Staff, exercises direct operational
control over the Commander General of the three services.
The total active manpower is around 11,000 soldiers.
There is also a para-military forces with 5,000 public
security soldiers.
The Honduran Land Forces is around 8,500 soldiers,
with the structure:
- 6 Military Zones
- 4 infantry brigade, 3 with 3 infantry battalion,
1 artillery battalion, and 1 with 3 infantry battalion.
- 1 special tactical group with 1 infantry battalion
and 1 Special Forces battalion
- 1 armoured cavalry regiment with 2 mechanised battalion,
1 light tank, 1 reconnaissance squadron, and 1artillery
battalion
- 1 air-defense artillery battalion
- 1 engineer battalion
- 1 Presidential Guard company
RESERVES
- 1 infantry brigade
