Kalashnikov Group upgrades its MBDU weapon station
The Kalashikov Group is upgrading its MBDU remotely controlled weapon station (RCWS), according to a source in Russian defense industry.

"The company has developed the third modification of the MBDU weapon station. It has received upgraded target tracking device. The elevation angle of the main weapon has been increased to +70 degrees. MBDU has got the fifth option of the main weapon, namely 14.5mm KPVT heavy machinegun".

The source pointed out, that the station`s survivability on the modern battlefield has been significantly increased. "The new modification of MBDU has received manual reloading system, which allows to fire the main weapon if armoured fighting vehicle`s network is switched off". he added.

According to the source, the MBDU station is planned to be integrated with modern Russian wheeled AFV, namely, from KAMAZ and Ural families.

MBDU was demonstrated for the first time at the Army-2015 military-technical forum outside Moscow. The station can be equipped with one of the five following weapons: 7.62mm/12.7mm/14.5mm machineguns or 30mm/40mm automatic grenade luanchers. MBDU is supposed to receive 30mm automatic cannon as a main weapon.
