This latest procurement, made on behalf of four NATO member countries, is part of a framework agreement between Saab and the NSPA. The agreement includes not only the versatile Carl-Gustaf weapon system but also a comprehensive set of ammunition and associated equipment, enhancing the operational capabilities of the concerned NATO allies.

Görgen Johansson, head of Saab's Dynamics division, expressed pride and gratitude for the NSPA's renewed trust in the Carl-Gustaf system, describing it as "reliable, efficient, and trustworthy" on the battlefield. The Carl-Gustaf system is renowned for its versatility and power, capable of addressing a multitude of tactical scenarios - from neutralizing armored threats to facilitating night operations with illumination munitions.

The Carl Gustaf is a multi-role, man-portable weapon system recognized for its versatility and power on the battlefield. Designed to engage a wide range of targets, it uses various types of munitions such as high-explosive (HE), high-explosive anti-tank (HEAT), smoke, high-explosive anti-tank warheads, anti-structure munitions (ASM), illuminating star shells, multi-target (MT) ammunition, laser-guided projectiles, and practice rounds. This diversity allows the Carl Gustaf to effectively target main battle tanks, armored vehicles, bunkers, and buildings.

Carl Gustaf rockets weigh between 3.1 and 4 kg and can penetrate armor of 400 to 500 mm thickness. Despite this firepower, the weapon system itself is surprisingly light, with a combat weight of less than 7 kg, facilitating its portability by moving armed forces. The Carl Gustaf has a caliber of 84 mm, offering an optimal balance between portability and explosive power.

The capability to engage targets ranges from 300 to 1,000 meters, supported by a variety of sighting devices, including open (iron) sights, a 3x optical laser rangefinder, and an image intensification system to improve accuracy in various combat conditions. The Carl Gustaf is designed for a two-person crew, a gunner, and a loader, optimizing the speed and efficiency of reloading in action. With a total length of 1,000 mm, this weapon system combines exceptional maneuverability with impressive firepower.

With its wide range of munition types, the Carl-Gustaf system stands as a model of flexibility and efficiency, ensuring that soldiers have the necessary tools to succeed in various combat environments. This latest agreement further strengthens Carl-Gustaf's position as a critical asset for over 40 nations worldwide, attesting to its global acclaim and the strategic advantage it provides to global armed forces.
