The Czech Armed Forces will receive eight radars for a contract amount of $100 million.

The Czech Republic published an international tender to acquire new 3D mobile air defense radars to replace the old Soviet-made target acquisition radars 1S91 (NATO code Straight Flush) associated with the Soviet-made SA-6 Gainful (2K12 KUB CZ) air defense missile systems which is in service with the Czech Armed Forces since 1991.

Czech Republic has also launched a new program to purchase new medium-range air defense missile systems to replace old Soviet-made 2K12 Kub (SA-6 Gainful). Five international companies including Lockheed Martin, MBDA, Kongsberg, Rafael and Diehl have submitted offers to supply medium-range air defense systems to the Czech Ministry of Defense.

The ELM-2084 is a mobile S-band Multi-Mission Radar (MMR) developed by IAI (Israel Aerospace Industries). It features an advanced 3D Active Electronically Steered Array (AESA) for Air Defense and Artillery Weapon Location (WLR) Missions.

In the Air Defense mode the radar detects and classifies of all types of airborne targets and generates a real-time Air Situation Picture (ASP). The Artillery mode detects incoming mortars, artillery shells and, missiles - providing hostile weapon firing location as well as real-time calculation of impact point and friendly fire ranging. In addition, the Fire Control Radar (FCR) functionality enables control via uplink to anti-missile interception systems and Surface-to-Air (SAM) missile systems.

The ELM-2084 has the capacity to detect up yo 1,100 targets for air surveillance and 200 targets per minute in weapon location mode. It has a maximum surveillance range of 470 km.
