The press service of the Russian state defense company "Rostec" holding company has announced that the "Zavet-D" automated artillery fire control vehicle, specifically designed for the Russian Airborne Troops (VDV), has entered mass production and will soon be delivered to military units.

The new VDV (Russian airborne troops) artillery fire control system, "Zavet-D," was approved for supply to the Russian army back in late 2021 after passing all necessary tests. However, there was no news on the start of serial production until now. "Rostec" has stated that the serially produced systems will be delivered to VDV units by the end of this year.

The developer, NPP Rubin, which is part of Rostec, will deliver the first batch of automated artillery control systems for VDV, "Zavet-D," by the end of 2023. The equipment has successfully passed tests and has been approved for supply, according to the TASS news agency.

"Zavet-D" is based on the tracked chassis of the BMP-3 IFV (Infantry Fighting Vehicle) and provides targeting and organization of defense against enemy armored attacks using VDV's anti-tank weapons. This system doubles the efficiency of self-propelled guns 2S9 Nona-S, 2S9-1 Sviristelka, and 2S9-1M Nona-SM.

Target detection is ensured by a reconnaissance optoelectronic system and a remote radar system, with a range of 7 kilometers for detection and 5 kilometers for identification. The system determines the direction and speed of enemy movement, classifies targets, prioritizes them based on their threat level, and then provides real-time targeting data to anti-tank weapon operators.

Information reception and transmission are carried out via both wired channels and radio. The capabilities of the complex allow for exchanging information at distances up to 100 km. In case of command post failure, "Zavet" transfers its functions to subordinate or higher authorities, ensuring uninterrupted control.
