The CHETRA-Caravan project received recognition of the expert community.

The U.S. Army plans to launch two stationary blimps next week to better protect the Washington, D.C. area from cruise missiles and other possible air attacks. The aerostat, part of the "Joint Land Attack Cruise Missile Defense Elevated Netted Sensor" system, referred to as JLENS for short, is a nearly 250-foot blimp-like vehicle that will stay aloft for a three-year evaluation period.

Ukrainian defense company Cherkasy unveils the Bars multipurpose light armored vehicle
 
Cherkasy car factory, part of the Ukraine's Bogdan Corporation, has presented the 'Bars' (panther) multifunctional light armored vehicle. The factory developed the vehicle by itself. The all-wheel drive car is intended to be used for tactical tasks, patrolling the border, protecting roadblocks and conducting military operations in urban areas. The vehicle was demonstrated to National Guard of Ukraine chiefs, according to the company's press release on Monday.

The Small Arms Grenade Munition (SAGM) round -- a 40mm counter-defilade, air-bursting grenade designed for both the M203 and M320 launchers -- will undergo evaluation in July 2015. The SAGM round has been under development by the Joint Service Small Arms Program at the U.S. Army Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center, or JSSAP-ARDEC, since January 2012.

Deployment of a prototype system is scheduled for 2016, but BAE is already looking forward to what might be possible as the technology scales up in power and scales down in size. The first target might be a railgun for the Army’s next-generation Future Fighting Vehicle.
