Analysis Belgian and foreign combat vehicles and armoured at military parade 21 July 2017.
Army Recognition editorial team was in Peutie military barracks to cover the military parade rehearsal for the Belgian National Day of July 21, 2017. Every year, Belgium’s national day is celebrated with a whole range of activities including a parade of Belgium armed forces, police, civil defense and emergency services in the center of Brussels.

The military parade includes first the troops from different units followed by tactical and armoured vehicles in services with the Belgian Armed Forces including :
The LMV also called Lynx , a 4x4 armoured vehicle manufactured by the Italian Company IVECO Defense Vehicles. It is a light multirole armoured vehicle mainly used as tactical vehicle. It can be fitted with a remotely operated weapon station armed with a 7.62mm machine gun.

The French army at the Belgian military parade presents two types of armoured vehicle, the VBLL, it is a long chassis version of the VBL 4x4 Light Armoured vehicle which is the standard wheeled tactical armoured vehicle in service with the French armed forces.

The VBLL is followed by two VBC, a command post version of the VBCI which is fitted with a remote weapon station mounted on the roof and armed with a 12.7mm machine gun M2.

The Dutch army also participate in the parade with two Boxer 8x8 armoured personnel carrier jointly developed by German and Dutch Companies. The vehicle can carry a total 11 soldiers including driver, commander, gunner and 8 infantrymen. The Dutch Boxer is fitted with a remote weapon station armed with a 12.7mm machine gun.

The Piranha III C is an 8x8 armoured vehicle manufactured by the Swiss Company Mowag now a subdivision of General Dynamics European Land System. The DF-90 is a fire support vehicle based on the a Piranha IIIC wheeled armoured chassis. The vehicle is fitted with a Belgian CMI two-man turret armed with a Cockerill LCTS 90mm cannon.

The DF-30 is an infantry fighting vehicle also based on Piranha IIIC wheeled armoured chassis that can carry 6 military personnel. This vehicle is armed with a 30mm cannon remotely operated weapon station.

The Piranha IIIC armoured personnel carrier is mainly used by infantry unit of armoured brigade. The vehicle can carry a total of 10 military personnel including driver, commander, gunner and 7 infantrymen. It is fitted with a remotely operated weapon station armed with a 12.7mm M2 machine gun.

The Dingo 2 also called MPPV (Multi-Purpose Protected Vehicle) in Belgian army, is a 4x4 armoured personnel carrier in service with the light infantry units. The vehicle is manufactured by the German Company KMW. The vehicle is based on Unimog light truck chassis.

The vehicle provides high level of protection against ballistic and mine threats. For the Belgian, the vehicle is fitted with a remotely operated weapon station which can be armed with a 12.7mm or 7.62mm machine gun.

The combat engineer version of the Piranha IIIC family is fitted with a mine clearing equipment mounted at the front of the vehicle.

The Piranha recovery version used the same chassis as all the family of Piranha but the front of the vehicle is fitted with a dozer blade. Additional recovery equipment and tools are stored inside the vehicle.

Pandur 1 6x6 reconnaissance armoured vehicle
     
The Pandur 1 is a 6x6 armoured vehicle used by reconnaissance units of Belgium army . The vehicle was developed by the Austrian Company Steyr-Daimler-Puch now part of General Dynamics European Land System. The rear of the vehicle is fitted a telescopic mast with optics to perform observation of the battlefield. The vehicle has a one-man open top turret armed with a 12.7mm machine gun.

The Unimog SCB (Battlefield surveillance radar) is 4x4 light tactical truck fitted with a radar mounted at the rear of the crew cab which is used for surveillance, identification and reconnaissance of the battlefield.

Army of Luxembourg at the Belgian army parade presents Dingo 2 armoured vehicle in Protected Reconnaissance vehicle version with Optronic Head (Margot 5000) with Thermal Imager, CCD camera and Laser Range Finder mounted on a 4 m telescopic mast locate at the rear of the vehicle.

Dutch Army presents also a 4x4 Volkswagen Amarok vehicle with an US-made Scan Eagle UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) fitted on the roof. This UAV can be used to perform reconnaissance mission on the battlefield.

Artillery units of Belgian army are equipped with two types of weapon system, the LG1 a 105mm towed cannon manufactured by the French Company Nexter, towed by Dingo 2 armoured vehicle and 120mm F1 mortar designed by Brandt Thompson, towed by a light tactical truck Unimog.

Belgian special Forces are equipped with two wheeled vehicles including the FOX , a rapid reaction vehicle that will enter in service in the next few weeks. The Fox vehicle is designed and manufactured by the British Company Jankel. The vehicle will be used to perform long-range reconnaissance missions.

The Jacam is based on 4x light tactical truck Unimog especially designed to perform long-range reconnaissance missions The vehicle is armed with a 12.7mm machine gun and three 5.56 /7.62 mm machine gun mounted on swivel station located at the front and the rear of the chassis.
