SDLE awarded contract to supply spare parts of Spanish Pizarro AIFVs

The Spanish ministry of Defense has awarded Star Defense Logistics Engineering (SDLE]) a 7.5 million euros contract to supply spare parts for the Spanish army’s Pizarro armored infantry fighting vehicles (AIFV). The spare parts will be delivered between 2018 and 2020 and bundled in seven batches. the framework contract includes the options for an extension of another three years for the same amount of seven and a half million euros.

This new contract award joins one for the supply and repair of the Pizarro, Leopard 2A4 and Leopard 2E roadwheels (awards fixed up to 2019 between SDLE and the Spanish Ministry of Defense). That means that SDLE assumes the responsibility for supplying the spare parts for these strategic vehicles for the next four years. It has been doing so for the last two years, and so SDLE stands as the backbone in supporting the maintenance of the Army's vehicles, becoming the company that can really guarantee its effectiveness.

14 of the 83 Pizarro AIFVs owned by the Spanish army are being used for the first time outside Spanish territory in NATO-led military operations. In particular, this first deployment abroad of these vehicles has been in Latvia, as part of the Spanish army's contribution to the 'Enhanced Forward Presence' mission, which was launched by the Atlantic Alliance in May 2017. With a maximum weight of 35 tons, the Pizarros are used as armored personnel carriers, infantry fighting vehicles, command posts, ambulances, mortar carriers and direct fire vehicles.
