The helicopters will be delivered to Slovakia, which wants to withdraw its legacy Mil Mi-7 helicopters and replace them with newer ones that will cover its national and NATO-run operations. The construction of the new helicopters will take place at Stratford, Connecticut with an estimated completion date of May 31, 2017.

Slovakia currently operates 10 Mil Mi-7 helicopters and the four new Blackhawks are part of an overall requirement for nine units. In February the US State Department had approved a possible FMS for nine UH-60M in standard US Government configuration with an overall cost of USD450 million.
