EDePro introduces two new projects of UAV at PARTNER 2015: the Rapier and the Atrox
At Partner 2015, the Serbian company EDePro (Engine Development & Production introduced two projects of unnmanned combat aerial vehicle, the Rapier and the Atrox. EdePro, based in Belgrade, develops solutions for solid rockets, turbo jet powered missiles and production of energetic materials, and is now showcasing two new innovative solutions in order to enter the UAV market.

Development program of the Rapier has been launched in order to fulfill several design requirements: maximum takeoff weight muse be 350 kg, the endurance needs to be more than 6 hours, it must have a max speed of 200 km/h and a ceiling of 5,000m. It must carry various payloads, such as: radar systems, radar confusion transmission and surveillance equipment (color TV camera, low light level TV camera, thermal imaging camera, laser target designator and weapon systems.

The Rapier is a new project of unmanned autonomous vehicle that can provide reconnaissance, surveillance, situational awareness, electronic warfare, aerial fire support and precision targeting support for ground, air and naval forces. Rapier is a VTOL (Vertical Take Off and Landing) UAV, and is then more comfortable for use-take off and land vertically on any kind of terrain, such as small ships or even vehicles. Structure of the fuselage is mostly composite with a frame made of aluminium alloys. The rotor head is mainly made of steel.

The Rapier unmanned helicopter is designed to carry various payload such as radar systems, radar confusion transmission, surveillance equipment (color TV camera, low light level TV camera, thermal imaging camera, laser target designator. A EO/IR imaging system can be mounted under the nose.

Rapier UAV will have a payload of maximum 65 kg, an empty weight of 195 kg and a max. takeoff weight of 350 kg. It features a fuel capacity of 110l. The Rapier is powered by one TVM-200 engine (79KW). It has a length of 5.75 m, a width of 2.04 m and a height of 2.21 m. The 2-baldes tail rotor has a diameter of 1m and has a tip speed of 200 m/s. First flight of the prototype is scheduled by 2015-end.

In cooperation with the Swiss company Unmanned Systems Group, EDePro also launched a new project of armed drones, dubbed "Atrox". The Atrox is an "unnmanned tip jet helicopter" mainly based on EDePro's Tip-Jet helicopter. The Atrox, which is always at concept phase, is intended to be specifically used for military applications, such as surveillance, target acquisition, mine detection, electronic warfare and, convoy support. It will be equipped with two hard points for armed pod and with an electro-optical system fitted under the nose of the aircraft.
