The AR-2000, a turbine-powered UAV, is primarily designed for ship-based operations. This cutting-edge drone is capable of carrying both sensor and offensive payloads, demonstrating its versatility across various military applications. Notably, the People's Liberation Army (PLA) has already shown its confidence in the AR-2000 by purchasing an undisclosed number of units.

Primarily designed for maritime use, the AR-2000 stands out with its foldable blades, a feature optimized for shipboard operation. It is equipped with a chin-mounted electro-optical/infrared turret and a large search and surveillance radar, making it particularly suitable for surveillance missions.

In terms of communication, the AR-2000 features an enclosed satcom antenna in the nose section and a smaller satcom antenna on the tail boom. Additionally, the model displayed in Dubai appeared to have antennas for tactical data links and other communication systems.

The operational flexibility of the AR-2000 is further enhanced by the option to equip the device with several short-range air-to-ground missiles. This feature strengthens its ability to fulfill various missions, both at sea and on land.

This turbine-powered drone performed its maiden flight earlier in the year of its presentation, marking an important step in its development. With the AR-2000, CATIC aims to expand its offerings in the international drone market, specifically targeting customers in the Middle East region.

CATIC's presentation of the AR-2000 at UMEX 2024 not only highlighted the drone but also underscored the company's aspirations to attract customers from the Middle East region. Although discussions with potential customers outside China are still in their early stages, the unveiling at UMEX 2024 marks a significant step forward in CATIC's global outreach efforts.

UMEX 2024, known for its focus on unmanned systems and simulation and training in the defense sector, provided an ideal stage for CATIC to introduce the AR-2000 to an international audience. The event continues to be a pivotal gathering for industry leaders, offering a window into the latest technological advancements in defense and security.
