As the conflict in Ukraine continues to intensify, Luxembourg has decided to step up its military aid to the country in crisis. According to open intelligence (OSINT) sources, Luxembourg has increased its support with the addition of 9 Primoco One 150 reconnaissance drones. The move comes after the recent loss of one of these drones in Ukraine, highlighting the continued commitment of Luxembourg to support the Ukrainian forces.

Luxembourg is not making its first contribution to Ukraine. In addition to the 9 new drones, the country also provided 3.2 million 12.7mm rounds, 16 armored ambulances, 800 helmets, and 150 night vision goggles. These contributions add to an already substantial body of previous assistance, including HUMVEE tactical vehicles, NLAW guided missiles, and various other equipment and munitions.

The drone in question, the Primoco One 150, is a creation of the Czech company Primoco UAV. Designed primarily for surveillance and reconnaissance missions, this mid-sized drone successfully completed its first flight test for military applications in September 2020. It is equipped with advanced military communications systems and an electro-optical reconnaissance system, making it a valuable asset on the battlefield.

Manufactured by Czech company Primoco UAV, the Primoco One 150 is a mid-sized drone designed primarily for surveillance and reconnaissance missions. The drone successfully completed its first flight test for military applications in September 2020. It can be equipped with military communications systems and an electro-optical reconnaissance system, with a radio station from L3Harris and ANW2C data links from Persistent Systems.

The Primoco One 150 features a fully composite structure and fixed tricycle-style landing gear. It is powered by a four-stroke, four-cylinder 340 fuel-injected piston engine. With a maximum takeoff weight of 150 kg and a payload capacity of up to 30 kg, this drone can stay in flight for up to 15 hours and has an operational range of up to 2,000 km.

The delivery of these new drones comes at an opportune time for Ukrainian forces. On September 8, 2023, one of the Primoco One 150 drones previously supplied by Luxembourg was destroyed. According to the Russian news agency RIA Novosti, which released photos, the drone was intercepted and shot down by anti-aircraft gunners of the "BARS-10" volunteer detachment over the former Kakhovka reservoir.
