The Canadian Army has begun introducing the Sig Sauer P320 pistol, designated as the C22, to replace the long-standing Belgian-originated FN Browning GP 9mm pistol, which has been in service since 1944.

The P320, manufactured by SIG Sauer, is a modular semi-automatic pistol and an evolution of the SIG Sauer P250. It features a striker-fired mechanism, replacing the double-action-only hammer system. The P320 is capable of being chambered in various calibers such as 9×19mm Parabellum, .357 SIG, .40 S&W, .45 ACP, and 10mm Auto. The pistol's caliber can be easily converted with a simple barrel change or by using a caliber exchange kit.

The introduction of the P320 chambered in 9×19 mm Parabellum took place on January 15, 2014, in the North American market. The compact model chambered in .45 ACP was showcased at the SHOT Show in January 2015. On January 19, 2017, it was announced that a customized version of the SIG Sauer P320 had won the United States Army's XM17 Modular Handgun System competition. The full-sized variant is known as the M17, while the compact carry-sized model is called the M18.

The latest addition to the P320 family is the 320XCA-9 Legion-TB-R2, which combines the performance of a heavy pistol with the versatility expected from a handgun. This high-performance pistol, equipped with fully adjustable XRAY3 day/night sights, ensures precise targeting under any lighting conditions.

An outstanding feature of the 320XCA-9 Legion-TB-R2 is its threaded barrel, facilitating the attachment of suppressors or muzzle devices. This attribute is particularly advantageous for individuals aiming to reduce muzzle rise and enhance overall shooting comfort.

The 320XCA-9 Legion-TB-R2 falls into the category of a carry-size firearm, making it suitable for concealed carry or everyday use. It boasts compact dimensions with an overall length of 8.1 inches (206 mm), a width of 1.6 inches (41 mm), and a height of 5.9 inches (150 mm). Despite its concealability, the pistol offers a comfortable shooting experience.

With a 4.6-inch (117 mm) barrel, the 320XCA-9 Legion-TB-R2 strikes a balance between compactness and ballistic performance. The barrel is crafted from durable carbon steel, ensuring reliability and longevity even in demanding shooting conditions.

Weighing 40.5 ounces (1.15 kg), the 320XCA-9 Legion-TB-R2 provides a solid and stable platform for accurate shooting. The weight distribution reduces recoil and improves handling, allowing for quick follow-up shots.

The sight radius measures 5.8 inches (147 mm), contributing to enhanced sight alignment and improved accuracy. A longer sight radius aids in target acquisition and significantly influences shooting performance.

The pistol features an M1913 rail, commonly known as an accessory rail, enabling effortless attachment of lights, lasers, or other accessories.

Utilizing a striker-fired mechanism, the 320XCA-9 Legion-TB-R2 boasts consistent and reliable trigger action. Equipped with a skeletonized flat trigger, it enhances trigger control, offering a crisp and clean break.

The grip module of the 320XCA-9 Legion-TB-R2 belongs to the XSeries, designed to offer enhanced ergonomics and comfort. The frame of the pistol is constructed from stainless steel, providing exceptional strength and corrosion resistance. This material choice ensures the longevity of the firearm, even under harsh environmental conditions. The pistol comes with a carry-size XGRIP module, which provides a secure and comfortable grip for improved shooting control.
