CMI Defence at AUSA 2016: Ready to Modernize Fleet of US Army Stryker APCs
CMI Defence, the undisputed technological leader in multifunctional, high-effect weapons systems for light and medium weight armored vehicles, expands its activities in the United States of America. CMI Defence is working with the ARDEC since the beginning of 2016 to the joint development of a medium calibre turret. Next step for CMI Defence in the US consists of the creation of a subsidiary in the United States.

CMI Defence is member of the CMI Group, which is already present in the United States through CMI Energy llc. (Erie, Pennsylvania), specializing in Heat Recovery Steam Generators, and through CMI Industry Americas Inc. (Salem, Ohio), specializing in steel treatment equipment (industrial furnaces, coating lines…). Together, these two subsidiaries employ 180 people (figure on 206, Jul. 1st).

It’s now the turn of CMI Defence to expand its activities on the US market. At the beginning of 2016 CMI Defence was selected by, and in cooperation with, the U.S. Army Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC) for a Research and Development program focused on Medium Caliber Armament Systems. This effort is being undertaken within the framework of a ‘Cooperative Research and Development Agreement’ (CRADA) that will be concluded at the end of 2017. It involves the common conception of a new medium calibre armament system incorporating an existing product of the CMI Defence portfolio. Next step for CMI Defence in the US consists of the creation of a subsidiary in the United States.

Jean-Luc Maurange, President of CMI Defence: “We have great ambitions on the American market. Our internationally recognized expertise in providing high lethality weapons systems perfectly completes the mobility and protection provided by the vehicle manufacturers. Being selected by the American army to develop its future medium calibre system is a first rate demonstration of recognition for CMI Defence. It enables us to be ideally positioned within the framework of the future American modernization program for the Stryker fleet of systems”.
