January 19th, 2010, the French Head office of armament (DGA) delivered to the French Army its first four high protected wheeled armoured vehicles ARAVIS Nexter Systems. On the whole 15 ARAVIS were ordered by the DGA in April 2009 at company NEXTER Systems for close to 20M€, including 15 M€ under the revival program of the economy. The shutter defense of the revival program of the economy represented 2.4 billion euros in 2009 and in particular allowed to increase by 10% the appropriations devoted to the equipment. This acquisition will make it possible to equip the Army with a vehicle strongly protected for the recognition from routes likely to be trapped. The ARAVIS will equip the engineer units which accompany BUFFALO and SOUVIM vehicles in Afghanistan, specialized in the fight against IED (Improvised Explosive Devices). The last eleven ARAVIS are envisaged to be delivered by NEXTER Systems to the DGA before the end of April 2010. The users as well as the people in charge of the maintenance of the ARAVIS will begin in February their formation on the first vehicles.French Head office of armament DGA delivered to the French Army its first four high protected wheeled armoured vehicles ARAVIS Nexter Systems.
