Russia’s Strategic Missile Force will receive a record number of engineering vehicles in 2016 including 15M107 Listva remote-controlled mine clearing vehicles, the Russian Defense Ministry’s press office said on Monday, January 18, 2016. The Strategic Missile Force is currently being rearmed with Yars ground missile systems, the press office added. The 15M107 Listva remote-controlled mine clearing vehicle is designed to search for and clear mines planted along patrolling routes of Topol-M and Yars mobile ground missile systems.

"Russia’s Strategic Missile Force continues receiving advanced engineering vehicles to enhance mobile missile systems’ maneuverability and survivability," the press office said.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry’s press office, the Strategic Missile Force’s four large units will receive 12 engineering and camouflaging vehicles in 2016.

"The engineering and camouflaging vehicle is designed for providing engineer support and camouflaging a missile system in the whole or its parts during a combat alert along patrolling routes and in the field," the press office said.

It was reported earlier that mine clearing vehicles of this type had entered service with the Strategic Missile Force’s large units based in Novosibirsk in West Siberia and Teykovo in central Russia.

In 2016, the Strategic Missile Force is expected to receive more than 70 engineering vehicles and 25 tons of engineer stores, including wheeled track plotters, universal mine layers, excavators and other equipment.

The 15M107 Listva remote-controlled mine clearing vehicle is designed to search for and clear mines planted along patrolling routes of Topol-M and Yars mobile ground missile systems.

The Listva mine clearing vehicle has been developed on the basis of the Vystrel KAMAZ-43269 armored combat vehicle’s chassis.

The Russian Strategic Missile Force is expected to receive about 20 Listva mine clearing vehicles by 2020.
