"We are endeavoring to produce joint defense products with Pakistan," General Baqeri said during a meeting with Pakistani President Mamnoon Hussain in Islamabad on Tuesday.

He added that during his visit to Pakistan, both sides will discuss military training issues, pilot training, military drills and ties between the two countries' defense industries.

General Baqeri also held a separate meeting with Pakistani Navy Commander Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi.

In a relevant development in June, Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Force Brigadier General Pakpour and visiting Chief of the General Staff of Pakistan's Armed Forces General Bilal Akbar in a meeting in Tehran underlined the need for expanding mutual cooperation to boost defense ties and security at common borders.

During a meeting in the Iranian capital, General Pakpour and General Akbar explored avenues for bolstering and reinvigorating bilateral ties in military and defense fields.

The two sides also underlined the importance of intelligence sharing and fighting terrorists at the border areas.

Iran-Pakistan border areas have become a safe haven for terrorist groups' activities. Last month, armed bandits killed three Iranian Basijis (volunteer forces) and wounded eight others in Mirjaveh in Southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan and escaped to the Pakistani part of the border.

Mirjaveh is a town in Sistan and Balouchestan Province. It is the main road crossing point between Iran and Pakistan.
