Russian army Eastern Military District will test Iskander-M ballistic missile in September 2016.
The Iskander-M (NATO reporting name: SS-26 Stone) tactical ballistic missile system accepted by Russia’s Defense Ministry in May 2016 has been delivered to the Russian Eastern Military District, Commander of the 20th Missile Brigade of the 5th Army Alexander Peshkov said.

The servicemen are planned to use this system in the third ten-day period of September to perform launches, the commander added.

"The Machine-Building Design Bureau has delivered 51 Iskander-M tactical ballistic missile system vehicles to the 20th Missile Brigade of the Eastern Military District’s 5th Army," Peshkov said on the common military hardware acceptance day.

According to him, the Iskander-M system’s vehicles were adjusted by production teams of the Machine-Building Design Bureau and accepted by the brigade on May 25 - June 28.

"The brigade’s training course at the 60th Special Rocket, Missile and Tube Artillery Combat Employment Center will culminate in tactical maneuvers with a live-firing exercise in the third ten-day period of September 2016," Peshkov added.

The Machine-Building Design Bureau’s press office said earlier that the system had been delivered to the Defense Ministry in May 2016.

Iskander Missile SS-26 Stone is a short range tactical missile system developed and produced in Russia. The missile is designed for mobile, autonomous operation and is capable of striking point and area targets at ranges of 50 – 400 km. The missile can carry conventional warheads, cluster bombs splinter munitions and allows for precision-strike operations
