Ukrainian Camel 4x4 UGV has successfully passed a series of trial qualification tests

According to information published on the Facebook account of the Ukrainian State Scientific Research Institute of Armament and Military Equipment Testing and Certification on December 1, 2020, the new Ukrainian-made Camel 4x4 UGV Unmanned Ground Vehicle has successfully passed a series of trial qualification tests.

The Camel is a 4x4 UGV (Unmanned Ground Vehicle) is designed and manufactured by the Ukrainian company Roboneers. The UGV is remotely operated by a single operator and is designed to perform a wide range of roles including reconnaissance, detection and destruction, cargo, and escort missions. It can be also used to evacuate wounded military personnel.

The Camel UGV is also fitted with a remotely operated weapon station (RWS) armed with a Soviet-made DShK 12.7mm heavy machine gun. The RWs is fitted with an ammo box with 400 rounds of ammunition. The turret has a traverse of 360° and is equipped with day and night vision, as well as a thermal imaging system.

The Camel 4x4 UGV is remotely controlled via a secure radio control channel with a backup fiber-optic line. It has a total weight of 1,000 kg and can carry a payload of up to 600 kg.

The Camel 4x4 UGV is electrically powered and can reach a maximum speed of 20 km/h with a maximum cruising range of 130 km. It can operate for up to 11 hours at a time when carrying a normal load. When running entirely on battery power, the unit can operate for up to two hours. Camel’s onboard generator can be used for power supply in remote zones. It has a length of 2.8 m, a width of 1.7 m, and a height of 1.3 m, and a ground clearance of 40 cm. Independent 4×4 wheel control and flexible frame chassis ensure maximum capabilities in all-terrain conditions.

The Camel 4x4 UGV can be fitted with various sensors to collect and transmit data, as well as guidance and tracking purposes. It is also compatible with C4VISION systems allowing autonomous navigation by traversing the pre-defined waypoints. It has also the capability to return to home automatically when the mission is completed.
