Syrian rebels claim to have taken control of oil plant and air defense base of Syrian armed forces.

The violence in Syria continues unabated as rebels claim to have taken control of an oil plant in Idlib province on a day that saw battles rage on several fronts across Syria. This is a strategic victory for the rebels that will disturb the delivery of fuel in the country.

Free Syrian army fighters also took an air defense base in the village of Al-Tana, on the road between Aleppo and Al-Rakka. Anti-Assad fighters also laid siege to a Syrian army barracks close to the city of Aleppo.

Fighting has been reported around a military base near Al-Maarat Nouamane, a town between Damascus and Aleppo, in the hands of rebels.

It is being reported that clashes are a daily occurrence in the suburbs of the capital Damascus as well as in the north, west and east of the country.

There are growing concerns that the conflict may spread across the Middle East as violence spills over borders into Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, and the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.

Heavy fighting have resulted serious losses in the ranks of the Syrian government forces, hundred soldiers were killed on Thursday, October 11, 2012. The Syrian army has lost in 19 months about 10,000 soldiers. Nearly 400 were taken prisoner in the north.
