At the MSPO 2023 International Defence Industry Exhibition, Poland proudly displayed its newly qualified P-18PL radar system. Developed by the PIT-Radwar consortium and the Military University of Technology, this advanced 3D radar with an Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) antenna is set to revolutionize Poland's air defense capabilities. The system is designed to integrate with Poland's Wisła and Narew anti-aircraft missile systems and can also serve as an initial guidance radar for other air and missile defense systems.

The P-18PL radar operates in the meter range, allowing for long-range detection capabilities. Specifically, it can detect targets at distances between 300 and 400 km, including aircraft with reduced radar visibility, commonly known as stealth aircraft. The radar's three-coordinate system enables it to determine not only the range of the detected air object but also its flight direction (azimuth) and altitude.

The radar was developed as part of a research project involving the PIT-Radwar consortium and the Military University of Technology. The successful completion of the qualification tests paves the way for the Weapons Agency of Poland to sign a contract for serial production with PIT-Radwar, the manufacturer of the radar.

One of the key features of the P-18PL radar is its ability to submit information to the Wisła and Narew anti-aircraft missile systems. This integration enhances the effectiveness and coordination of Poland's air defense network. The radar can also be used as an initial guidance system for other air defense and missile defense systems, making it a versatile addition to Poland's military arsenal.
