Over the summer, John Cockerill has been actively involved in rigorous field tests with the i-X. In a groundbreaking achievement, the i-X was tested for the first time against moving targets traveling at speeds of up to 80 km/h. The results were nothing short of impressive, with the system showcasing remarkable precision in its targeting capabilities.

This development has piqued the interest of several global armies, signaling a potential shift in modern warfare tactics and equipment. Notably, the French Army has expressed keen interest in the I-X system, further solidifying its reputation on the global stage.

The DSEI 2023 provided an ideal platform for John Cockerill to demonstrate its commitment to advancing defense technology. With the world watching, the company has once again proven its prowess in delivering state-of-the-art solutions for modern military challenges.

As the defense industry continues to evolve, innovations like the i-X system by John Cockerill are setting new standards in precision and efficiency. The global interest in such advancements underscores the importance of continuous research and development in this sector.

The Cockerill i-X, with "i" standing for "interceptor" and "X" representing a "modular-multi weapons system," is a state-of-the-art fast attack light 4x4 wheeled vehicle. This innovative combat vehicle is the brainchild of the Belgian-based company, John Cockerill Defense. It made its debut in March 2022 at the International Defense Exhibition WDS (World Defense Show) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

John Cockerill Defense envisioned the Cockerill i-X as a revolutionary combat system tailored for territorial defense interception. Its primary function is to detect, engage, and neutralize incoming threats with controlled force before they can achieve their objectives. This vehicle encapsulates the essence of operational superiority on the battlefield, emphasizing higher velocity, enhanced firepower, stealth, and integrated intelligence.

The Cockerill i-X boasts impressive speed capabilities both on-road and off-road, supported by either a thermal or hybrid thermal-electric drive train. The vehicle is designed to be light and stealthy, featuring adaptive camouflage and the ability to modify its infrared (IR) and acoustic signatures, making it harder to detect.

The Cockerill i-X is equipped with multi-sensor data fusion technology. This includes a Smart Helmet, onboard artificial intelligence (AI), cameras, and sensors such as Laser Warning Systems (LWS) and Acoustic Gunshot detection and localization. Depending on the specific threat, the vehicle can be equipped with a range of weapons, from 25mm and 30mm guns to missiles and rockets. Furthermore, it is designed to integrate a new generation of effectors in the future.
