Singapore Army gets new Hunter AVLB Armoured Vehicle Launched Bridge

According to a video from DSTA tweeted on November 9 by Ng Eng Hen and information published by Jr Ng in Asian Military Review, the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) have put into service a new bridging variant of the Hunter armoured fighting vehicle called the Hunter Armoured Vehicle-Launched Bridge (HT-AVLB). The new vehicle was unveiled during the Combat Engineers’ 55th Anniversary and commissioned the same day, Jr Ng reports on November 17.

Jointly designed by the army and the Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA), the HT-AVLB is produced by ST Engineering. Like the AFV variant, the HT-AVLB is equipped with an all-around camera suite that provides high levels of situational awareness and enables the crew to fully manoeuvre and operate its bridging system under armour protection. The HT-AVLB can be deployed within 7 minutes and can be networked with other Hunter vehicles. The bridge-laying variant has been "lightened" by removing the side armours.

The Hunter Armoured Fighting Vehicle (AFV) was jointly developed by ST Engineering, Defence Science and Technology Agency, and the Singapore Army. Intended to replace the Singapore Army's ageing Ultra M113 armoured personnel carriers, it was commissioned in 2019. It is the Singapore Army's and the world's first fully digitalised platform and is designed to provide armoured forces with enhanced capabilities to operate more effectively and efficiently in various phases of military operations. It was formerly known as ST Kinetics Next Generation Armoured Fighting Vehicle (NGAFV).
