Nexter, a KNDS company, is taking its full part in this European effort, and will significantly increase its propellant powder production capacities in cooperation with the Norwegian and Lithuanian companies Nammo and Valsts Aizsardzibas Korporacija.

An unprecedented grant to strengthen support for Ukraine

The work initiated by Nexter, a KNDS company, to adapt the industrial tool to a war economy posture, involves in particular reducing bottlenecks and strategic dependencies. As such, propellant powder is a necessary component for the manufacture of modular charges, which are part of the “full shot” of a 155mm artillery shell. The European subsidy from the ASAP plan thus allows Nexter, and its Italian munitions subsidiary Simmel Difesa in cooperation with its partners, to increase its propellant powder production capacities. This capacity complements that of other industrial players, effectively reducing critical supply paths.

Production multiplied by 8

The European Commission, via the ASAP plan and its desire to support the rise of the European defense industry for the direct benefit of Ukraine, thus places its trust in Nexter as a munitions prime contractor and a major player. support for Ukraine. Its industrial capacity will thus increase within three years from 50,000 to 400,000 modular loads produced annually, making it possible to anchor support to the Ukrainian armed forces over the long term.

This subsidy represents another milestone reached in Nexter's ramp-up since the start of its efforts within the framework of the war economy. The group has already doubled its production capacity for artillery ammunition and three times its CAESAR self-propelled howitzers production capacity.
