Iran conducts major military exercise on its western border.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) recently conducted a training exercise in the western province of Kermanshah, Iran, specifically in the Qasr-e Shirin County. Orchestrated by the Najaf Ashraf Base, this exercise is part of efforts to strengthen Iran's national defense against potential security challenges.

Incorporating various units, the maneuver focused on using advanced strategies to assess readiness against potential security threats and tactics of hostile Takfiri terrorist groups. The day-long exercise included specialized training in electronic warfare and testing of locally developed radar and communication systems. Reconnaissance and stealth maneuvers were also an important component of the exercise.

A key aspect of the exercise was the use of advanced and indigenous weapons to target and destroy the simulated enemy command centers and objectives. The IRGC's airborne, artillery and armored divisions also conducted several heliborne operations, showcasing their capabilities in coordinated actions.

One of the indigenous equipment used is the Toofan, a type of MRAP (Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected) vehicle, designed and produced in Iran. This vehicle was introduced into service in 2018 and is primarily used by Iran. It was developed by the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics of Iran.

The Toofan is designed to accommodate a crew of two and can transport up to ten passengers. Its main feature is its ballistic protection capability, compliant with STANAG 2/3 standards, meaning it offers significant resistance against small arms projectiles and shrapnel. This protective capacity makes it suitable for combat environments where mine and ambush threats are prevalent.

In terms of armament, the Toofan can be equipped with various types of weapons, including a 12.7 mm heavy machine gun. For its motorization, the Toofan is powered by a 360 horsepower (270 kW) diesel engine. Additionally, it has a four-wheel drive transmission, enhancing its mobility and ability to maneuver in varied conditions. In terms of performance, it can reach a maximum speed of 100 km/h.

Iran regularly conducts military exercises in various regions to test its weapons, equipment, and combat readiness. Iranian officials have consistently affirmed the country's commitment to enhancing its military and missile capabilities, stating that these aspects of national defense are non-negotiable.
