LMT from South Africa presents its new LM13 4x4 Multi-Purpose Combat vehicle with Meerkat turret.

One Middle East customer has ordered 60 of the LM13 vehicles with production that took place during the year 2015/2016.
 

With the LM13, the Company LMT launches a new 4x4 combat vehicle with a design focused to the mobility and protection. The LM13 has a combat weight of 13,000 kg and can carried a total of 9 military personnel including driver, commander, gunner and 6 troops.

The design of the LM13 is very similar to modern 4x4 armoured with the engine at the front, the crew in the middle and the troops compartment at the rear. There is two large bulletproof at the front of the vehicle, and one single door. On each side of the hull there is three small bullet proof windows with firing port in the lower part.

The troops enter and leave the LM13 via a double door without a central pillar in the rear of the hull, which opens outwards.

The LM13 is motorized with a Cummins 6 cylinder turbo Diesel engine developing 400 hp coupled to a fully automatic transmission with 6 speed. The vehicle can run at a maximum road speed of 120 km/h with a maximum cruising range of 540 km.

At AAD 2016, the LM13 was fitted with the Meerkat retractable weapon station integrated with the Sel-Defence Remotely Operated Weapon (SDROW) armed with a 7.62mm machinee gun developed by Denel Mechatronics, a business unit of Denel Vehicle Systems.
 

In road position, the Meerkat weapon station is stored inside the vehicle. The Meerkat turret can be elevated in 15 seconds using a 24v electric mechanism. The turret is also fitted with three smoke-grenade dischargers mounted on each side of the machine gun.

The LM13 can be also fitted with a full range of weapon station which can be armed with a light cannon up to 20mm caliber, a 40mm automatic grenade launcher or a 12.7mm heavy machine gun.
