"The Defense Ministry, particularly, the Russian Navy, has shown interest in the TM-140A all-terrain vehicle designed for operations in the Arctic," the source said. There has been no ATV delivery under way for the military yet."

According to the source, the carrying capacity of the TM-140A equipped with a cargo platform equals 4 tons. "The cab’s seating capacity is seven passengers, including three sleeping bunks," he said. "The passenger module seats eight personnel or can be converted to have four full-fledged bunks. The cab and module have independent heating. The vehicle has the starting preheater."

The source added that the TM-140A could be fitted with various types of tracks. "There is a snow tack with a rubber extender," he said, "and there is a rubber-metal extender-equipped track for spring and fall."

The ATV is powered by the 250-hp (184kW) YaMZ-236-2 four-stroke supercharged gas-turbine diesel engine from the Yaroslavl Motor Plant. The TM-140A’s endurance on extra fuel tanks is 800 km. The laden vehicle retains its buoyancy and can swim at a speed of 5 km/h.

At present, the ATV’s annual output stands at 50-100 units. There exists a general-layout cargo platform as well and it that can be easily tailored to the Defense Ministry’s standards.

"We are ready to supply the armed services with an ATV equipped with an integrated module adapted to the customer’s requirements designed for Russia’s High North," the source stressed.
