Russian armed forces has received ten Snegohod A-1 snowmobile vehicles for Special Operations.
The units of Russian Armed Forces` Western Military District (WMD) have received ten Snegohod A-1 snowmobile vehicles intended for special operations, according to the head of the WMD`s Press Department, Colonel Igor Muginov.

"Ten modern A-1 military snowmobile vehicles have been supplied to the district`s units under the rearmament program of the State Defense Order (Gosoboronzakaz. Russian acronym: GOZ)", Muginov said.

Snegohod A-1 military all-terrain snowmobile vehicles are produced by JSC Russkaya Mechanika (Russian Mechanics). The vehicle was demonstrated for the first time at the Army-2015 military-technical forum outside Moscow in June 2015. Snegohod A-1 is based on Taiga Patrul 551 SVT (Taiga Patrol 551SVT) vehicle.

The vehicle has received doube-cylinder engine (65 h.p.). A-1 is equipped with bindings for two pairs of skis, grenade launcher, 5.45mm AK-74M Kalashnikov assault rifle and 7.62mm SVD Dragunov sniper rifle. A-1 has got advanced instrumentation panel.
