The vehicles are often engaged in various exercises that train for the Syrian theater of operations: commandos successfully used AM-1 quads in Syria. Now, the light vehicles are supplied to Russian mobile units. AM-1 is most widely used in the Russian army. The 4x4 quad with its 40 hp engine can drive on any soil. The quad develops the maximum road speed of 80 km/h and has an autonomy of 300 km. AM-1 weighs 460 kg and the carrying capacity is 300 kg.

It can carry two men with a full outfit. The quad is often armed with a Pecheneg 7.62mm machine gun that has a firing range of 1,500 meters. An automatic grenade launcher can be installed. The quad can also carry an 82mm mortar. The military quad differs from civilian analogues. Its frame has been reinforced and a bracket was designed to fix arms. The fuel tank has a self-sealing coating, which seals a bullet hole in 10-15 seconds. Russian marines can operate the quad in shallow coastal waters. The frame has a special protective coating; its all-electric contacts are water-resistant.

The AM-1A modification was designed for the Arctic. The Arctic Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Northern Fleet received quads with a special wheeled mover of a broader tire-tread.

The Military-Industrial Company demonstrated 16 wheeled vehicles at Army-2020 forum. Six of them debuted at the show, including Tiger buggy. Designers said it perfectly fits commando operations. The buggy was developed on the undercarriage of VPK-233136 armored vehicle. It has an automatic gearbox and its turbo diesel engine develops a maximum capacity of 240 HP. The vehicle has fixtures for 12.7mm Kord machinegun and three 7.62mm Pecheneg machineguns. The Tiger can also carry two MANPADS.
