General Dynamics Land Systems is awarded a $16,269,197 modification to domestic and foreign military sales (Morocco) contract to provide systems technical support for the Abrams family of vehicles.

In 2018, the U.S. State Department approved the sale of Abrams MBTs to Morocco. The Morrocco dealt covers upgrades to 162 excess Abrams, turning the older designs into one of three variants: the baseline M1A1, the M1A2M design with a Commander’s Independent Thermal Viewer, or the M1A1 U.S. Marine Corps version.

Work for the new contract will be performed in Sterling Heights, Michigan, with an estimated completion date of June 30, 2020. Fiscal 2019 research, development, test and evaluation; Army working capital; foreign military sales; and other procurement, Army funds in the amount of $16,269,197 were obligated at the time of the award. U.S. Army Contracting Command, Warren, Michigan, is the contracting activity.
