IDEX 2017: Bertin showcases its FusionSight night and day vision enhancer
For the first time, the French company Bertin is displaying its FusionSight at IDEX 2017. It's a lightweight night and day vision enhancer combining colour low-light and thermal cameras, for use separartely or using the device’s smart fusion technology.

Even under limited visibility and low light conditions, FusionSight provides substantial visual support for search and rescue missions, locating missing persons and casualties. The combined view of thermal and colour imaging is especially critical in urban environments or structures that provide little ambient light and have multiple barriers behind which a potential threat can conceal themselves.

FusionSight is the world’s first device that offers the smart colour fusion of images. The first being a colour image (powered by a Photonsis sensor), providing a colour image in low light conditions without illumination. The second image is recorded by a high resolution thermal imaging sensor. The embedded real-time image processor automatically selects key information from each sensor and displays it as a combined/fused image, which can be recorded as a digital file.

This means that the usual limitations of each sensor is overcome by the other. The thermal sensor can see through smokescreen and fog, while the other sensor can see through windows with sufficient resolution to identify targets/individuals. With FusionSight there is no need for two separate devices, which has benefits for logistics and running costs.
