DX Korea 2018: New Tigon 6x6 armored vehicle from Hanwha Defense Systems.

South Korean Company Hanwha Defense Systems unveils a scale model of the Tigon, a new wheeled armored vehicle in 6x6 configuration at DX Korea 2018, Defense Exhibition in Seoul, South Korea, September 2018. According to Hanwha Defense Systems management, the Tigon is a new generation of wheeled armored offering more mobility and protection than the previous version of Black Fox wheeled armored also produced by the Company.

According an interview with the management team of Hanwha Defense Systems, the Tigon wheeled armored has a new design offering more protection and motorized with a new powerpack to provide more mobility. The vehicle is able to be fitted with combat turret armed with weapons up to 90mm caliber. The Tigon 6x6 armored vehicle has a crew of three including driver, commander and gunner and can accommodate 8 infantrymen at the rear of the hull.

The Tigon 6x6 wheeled armored vehicle is motorized with a Turbo-intercooled engine developing 525 hp. coupled to an automatic transmission. It can run at a maximum road speed of 110 km/h with a maximum cruising range of 1,000 km. The vehicle is fully amphibious and is propelled in the water thanks to the use of two hydrojets mounted at the rear of the chassis.

The scale model of the Tigon 6x6 armored vehicle showed at DX Korea 2018 was fitted with a Kongsberg remotely controlled and operated turret armed with one 30mm automatic cannon equipped with a link less ammunition handling system for increased reliability compared to traditional link fed cannon systems.

The development of the Tigon 6x6 armored vehicle is completely finalized and Hanwha Defense System has already performed first trial tests with the vehicle.
