Poland Secures Deal for HOMAR-K MLRS from South Korea.
Poland has announced the signing of an acquisition agreement for the HOMAR-K Multiple Rocket Launcher System (MLRS) with the Republic of Korea, during a ceremony held on April 25 in the presence of Secretary of State Mr. Paweł BEJDA. The agreement, valued at approximately USD 1.6 billion, was concluded between the Polish State Treasury - Armament Agency and Hanwha Aerospace Co. Ltd., a South Korean company. It involves the delivery of 72 multi-launch rocket modules, along with logistical and training packages, and the integration of the HOMAR-K launchers. The contract also includes the supply of several thousand precision missiles with ranges of 80 km and 290 km, as well as technical support from the manufacturer.

Deliveries are scheduled between 2026 and 2029, marking a significant step in strengthening Poland's defense capabilities. This agreement is part of a larger project aimed at acquiring a total of 290 HOMAR-K MLRS.
In November 2022, Poland had previously concluded a contract with Hanwha Aerospace Co. Ltd. for the acquisition of 218 missile launcher modules. This contract also included the integration of the launchers with the Jelcz chassis, logistical and training packages, as well as ammunition supply. More recently, in December 2023, an agreement was reached between the two countries for 198 Jelcz chassis intended for the HOMAR-K MLRS, valued at USD 345 million. This agreement is part of a comprehensive agreement for the period 2024-2027 and includes the integration of control and communication systems, as well as the installation of GPS receivers on the chassis.

The introduction of the HOMAR-K is part of Poland's broader defense strategy, which includes substantial orders for modern artillery systems from various countries, including South Korea and the United States. This significant investment underscores Poland's commitment to enhancing its military power and modernizing its arsenal. Additionally, there are plans to integrate the HOMAR-K system with unguided rockets, extending its operational range to up to 40 km. It is also noteworthy that the HOMAR-K system has been equipped with Polish communication technologies and the TOPAZ combat management system.
In addition to military hardware, the agreement also includes clauses regarding technology transfer, with the establishment of industrial potential in Poland for the production of spare parts and missiles. This enhanced cooperation between Poland and the Republic of Korea marks a new milestone in Poland's defense capabilities development, while also fostering industrial and technological collaboration between the two countries.
