Alexei Frolkin, Deputy Director of Russia’s Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation, has been appointed head of the official Russian delegation, while Sergei Goreslavsky, Rosoboronexport‘s Deputy Director General, leads the company’s delegation.

“This year marks 40 years since the inception of military-technical cooperation between Russia with Kuwait. Over the years, the special exporter and its predecessors have supplied mainly the Kuwaiti Army with a large number of weapons, which have repeatedly earned high marks from the country’s military. Through its participation in Gulf Defense & Aerospace 2017, Rosoboronexport demonstrates a great interest in the further development of bilateral relationship between our states in the sphere of military-technical cooperation,” said Sergei Goreslavsky.

Rosoboronexport is the organizer of the joint Russian display at Gulf Defense & Aerospace 2017. Its booth No. 607 is located in Pavilion No. 8 and provides information on more than 200 military products. In addition to the special exporter, six Russian arms manufacturers take part in the Russian display.

“Many of our weapons on display have been tested under real combat conditions during counter-terrorism operations and proved to be reliable and highly effective weapons. Moreover, it’s important for our Middle Eastern partners that the weapons and military equipment offered by us have put in a good performance in regional climatic conditions, added Sergei Goreslavsky.

The T-90S and T-90MS MBTs, the BTR-82A armored personnel carrier and the Kornet-EM ATGM system are considered most promising for the Kuwaiti Army from among the Russian weapons and military equipment showcased at the exhibition.

Of the aircraft in Rosoboronexport’s display, special attention is given to the Su-35 multirole super-maneuverable fighter, MiG-29M/M2 multirole frontline fighter and Yak-130 combat training aircraft. Foreign customers are also interested in the Ka-52 and Mi-28NE attack helicopters, Mi-35M transport/attack helicopter and Mi-171Sh military transport helicopter.

Rosoboronexport’s Middle Eastern partners are traditionally attracted by Russia’s air defense systems, such as the Pantsir-S1 air defense missile/ gun system, Tor-M2KM and Buk-M2E SAM systems, the Igla-S man-portable air defense system and, of course, the S-400, the best-selling Russian air defense missile system in the region, which will also be on display at the exhibition in Kuwait City.

The Project 20382 Tiger-class small patrol boat (corvette), Project 14310 Mirazh class patrol boat, Project 12150 Mangust class fast patrol boat, Project 677E Amur-1650 class diesel-electric submarine and Club missile systems exhibited on the company’s booth may draw the attention of senior naval officers.

Russian-made small arms and close combat weapons, especially the Kalashnikov AK-100 series assault rifles, AGS-17 automatic grenade launcher and RPG-27 anti-tank grenade launcher, generate significant interest from army and special operations units.

In Kuwait, Rosoboronexport also presents the Russian-made Security Systems, a comprehensive product encompassing the whole range of law enforcement, counter-terrorism, as well as homeland, infrastructure and information security solutions.

“The problem of combating international terrorism is extremely urgent both in the Middle East and around the world. Special attention is paid here to security issues at all levels. We are ready to assist in countering one of the major challenges of the 21st century and offer our new integrated product, which has proved effective during large-scale events in Russia and is in great demand in the world,” added Sergei Goreslavsky.
