Nexter Robotics small robot UGV Unmanned Ground Vehicle

Business Area

Nexter Robotics is a wholly owned subsidiary by Nexter Systems, which develops a cost effective range of ground and air unmanned systems, dedicated to defense, civilian security, rescue and surveillance applications. Thus, NERVA products family proposes a large set of platforms, control stations and additional compatible “mission kits”, which make it possible to assemble the perfect solution which fits the current need.
The platforms all offer a high level of robustness and ease of use; 4-wheels and 6-wheels versions have semi-autonomous capabilities which increase operational efficiency.

They can be operated from a large set of control stations (PC, Tablets and Smartphones).

All these are compatible with all types of platform. One single control station can supervise up to 3 robotic platforms. One single robot can be dynamically and sequentially operated by several control stations.
4-wheels and 6-wheels versions can be equipped with more than 20 optional “Missions Kits” which extend the range of missions that can be addressed with one single robotic system (Day/night Reconnaissance, CBRN reconnaissance, Counter-IED, Security and Protection, Civil Security…).

Both in France and abroad, working directly with customers and through its network of partners, Nexter Robotics is primarily focusing its activities on design, development, industrialization, production, commercialization and technical support for both land-based and air/land hybrid robotic systems, together with all the associated components and mission modules. Nexter can also provide tailor-made engineering solutions to incorporate robots in existing weapon systems and infrastructures, and is developing licensing agreements as part of its activities.

The products developed by Nexter Robotics have a direct impact on the protection of operational personnel, enabling them to project their sensory capabilities into danger zones without being directly exposed to threats. Human and operational capacities can be fully maintained for the most strategic missions. Nexter robots can also be designed as a natural extension of operational vehicles—in particular for military applications (remote viewing and remote-controlled actions to neutralize suspicious objects, etc.)— to provide a full range of built-in capabilities.

The first product in the Nexter Robotics line, the NERVA LG robot, was unveiled last year at the EuroSatory 2012 trade show. Designed and built by Nexter Systems, NERVA LG will also be performing demonstrations at IDEX 2013.

Nexter Robotics engineer team is able to provide latest generation of small UGV (Unmanned Ground Vehicle) to response to the new needs of military and security forces.

Company profile

The unique setup at Nexter Robotics makes the company extremely flexible and responsive. Working closely with the scientific community and robotics specialists through contractual agreements, Nexter can quickly integrate mature technological advances and pertinent technical solutions in its products.

Nerva LG Versatile Light Robotic System
NERVA®-LG robotic system consists in a light, robust, versatile platform, and an associated control station. The 4 cameras and microphone which equipped the robot make it immediately usable to perform long range observation missions (over 1,000m Line Of Sight and over 300m in urban environment).

The platform is compatible with more than 20 optional “Missions Kits” which extend the set of addressable missions such as CBRN reconnaissance, Counter-IED, rescue or contact operations. On-board semi-autonomous capabilities further improve the operational efficiency induced by this versatility by reducing operators’ workload.

NERVA-S Small-Sized Robotics System for Reconnaissance
NERVA®-S robotics system is primarily made to quickly collect operational information at long range. The platform can operate for hours without recharging the on-board batteries. It is equipped with a High-Definition and High-Sensitivity front camera which is suitable for day and night missions (using, if required, additional visible and infrared high power on-board lights). It is robust and massive enough to be thrown up to several meters far, to break a window or to be dropped from a moving vehicle. It can be activated within a few seconds, by releasing the rear handle which is then used to control the balance of the platform when moving. It can be operated by any type of control station of NERVA® family (PC, Tablet and Smartphone).

NERVA-HD Versatile Medium-Sized Robotic System
NERVA®-HD offers the standard level of nominal performances of NERVA® family (fast, robust, long radio range…), with additional capabilities in terms of mobility (obstacle management) and payloads: It can simultaneously operate two “Missions Kits” (CBRN Reconnaissance, C-IED, rescue, autonomous exploration and mapping, combat…). It can be equipped with tracks to climb stairs or with four larger wheels (central wheels are then replaced with rotating arms which help to manage large obstacles).
