There are several versions, though they’re all based on 6x6 KrAZ trucks chassis. The Raptor is fiited with bulletproof windows and armour plates able to protect the crew and troops from firing of 7.62mm machine gun. The truck can also protected their occupants from mines that weight up to 6 kg.
An armoured shelter is mounted at the rear of the trucks chassis, and each side of this shelter is equipped with bulletproof windows and firing ports which allow the troops to fire with individual weapons from inside the vehicle.
The experience of U.S. soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan has shown that unarmored vehicles put the soldiers at grave risk against attacks of IEDs and rocket-propelled grenade.
Light tactical vehicles Humvee of the U.S. armed forces proved extremely vulnerable to improvised explosive devices (IED), so the Pentagon decides to purchase thousands of wheeled MRAP (Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected) trucks.
The Russian separatists have captured lots of weapons as heavy machine guns, anti-materiel rifles and anti-tank rocket weapons which are used against the Ukrainian soldiers. The Raptor truck can increase the protection of Ukrainian soldiers against that type of threats.
