At the event, Streit Group has unveiled a new product in its range of armoured vehicle, the Cobra APC Vehicle Borne Assault System (VBAS).
The new Cobra 4x4 APc (Armoured Personnel carrier) in VBAS (Vehicle Borne Assault System) configuration from the Company Streit Group.

The Streit Cobra APC Vehicle Borne Assault System (VBAS), supplied from FDS (Force Development Services), is an intervention system to allow rapid access into buildings, aircraft, ships in port, public transport vehicles and over compound walls and fences. The VBAS is designed for a wide range of military, law enforcement and counter terror operations from a product range that has been developed for over 25 years.

The Cobra is a highly versatile 4x4 armoured vehicle with a superior off-road performance that is more than a match for any terrain, and a monocoque body shell designed to provide optimal ballistic resistance as well as underbody blast protection.

FDS’s range of tactical assault ladders and VBAS’s are field proven and in use in over 30 countries worldwide with Military, Special Forces, Police and other Government Agencies. The success is down to high quality long lasting products that are cost effective, lightweight and flexible in use.

The foundation of the VBAS is the roof mounted tube assembly that enables users to mount various equipment to including multi-level ladders and an adjustable forward assault ramp.

The height adjustable assault ramp provides rapid access into buildings and aircraft up to three metres above ground level. Combined with a multi-level ladder the VBAS is capable of reaching up to 8.5 metres, which is the upper doors of a Boeing 747.

The roof of the vehicle is accessed via a rear access ladder, or additional side access ladders can be used. From the roof, users can operate a multi-level ladder that can be secured to the mounting tube assembly or the front of the assault ramp. The ladder can also be fitted with an aircraft gantry platform, which provides users a stable platform to operate from into aircraft at any height the system can achieve. The gantry is able to swivel catering for a variety of approach angles, allowing the driver of the vehicle not having to be too critical. It’s fitted with a cushion bar for resting against aircraft, which can be removed to reveal a set of wheels for rolling up or down the wall of a building.

The assault ramp can be fitted with a fast roping system, enabling users to fast rope over compound walls and fences up to two metres high. This can significantly reduce the entry time needed to a target.
