"The Tigr armored vehicle is being modernized to increase its anti-mine resistance to 2 kilogram of TNT; increase the ballistic stability to class 6a under the GOST state standard and increase the carrying capacity to 2 tons," the Military Industrial Company said.

The vehicle’s previous modification has a fifth-class armor protection against explosive devices weighing up to 0.6 kilograms of TNT.

The modernization has been going as planned according to schedule. "So far we can say we are going to live up to our promise to present the vehicle this year," the company’s press service said.

The fifth-class protection makes it possible for the Tigr armored vehicles to withstand the hit of a steel core bullet fired from a 7.62-caliber SVD sniper rifle from a fire distance of 10 meters. The sixth-class ballistic stability guarantees protection against 7.62-mm B-32 armor-piercing incendiary bullets at a distance of 10 meters.
