Fifty-one new Foxhound light protected patrol vehicles for the British troops in Afghanistan
 

The British Ministry of Defence is investing £46m in acquiring fifty-one new Foxhound patrol vehicles for soldiers serving on the front line in Afghanistan. Minister for Defence Equipment, Support and Technology Philip Dunne made the announcement during a visit to the General Dynamics Land Systems - Force Protection Europe (GDLS-FPE) facility in Telford, which provides spares for the Foxhound vehicle.

Over the past decade the only thing that has been able to slow the Army's premier combat vehicle, hasn't been enemies on the battlefield, but rather the technological advancements added to the platform. While every vehicle is designed to have Space, Weight, and Power, or SWaP, margin for incremental improvements, recent upgrades made to the Abrams M1A2 SEP V2 have left little margin for future improvements.

(Recherché Assistance Intervention Dissuasion) killed Mohamed Merah, an Islamic extremist who had shot three French soldiers in addition to three children and a rabbi at a Jewish elementary school in Toulouse. The operation ended a long standoff in which Merah had barricaded himself in his apartment and challenged police to enter. On June 13, a RAID team spokesman revealed for the first time that an innovative micro-robot played a key role in helping resolve the situation.
