US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency issued yesterday, December 22, a Broad Agency Announcement solicitation for the Fast Lightweight Autonomy (FLA) program. FLA focuses on creating a new class of algorithms to enable small, unmanned aerial vehicles to quickly navigate a labyrinth of rooms, stairways and corridors or other obstacle-filled environments without a remote pilot.

The U.S. Army plans to launch two stationary blimps next week to better protect the Washington, D.C. area from cruise missiles and other possible air attacks. The aerostat, part of the "Joint Land Attack Cruise Missile Defense Elevated Netted Sensor" system, referred to as JLENS for short, is a nearly 250-foot blimp-like vehicle that will stay aloft for a three-year evaluation period.

Cherkasy car factory, part of the Ukraine's Bogdan Corporation, has presented the 'Bars' (panther) multifunctional light armored vehicle. The factory developed the vehicle by itself. The all-wheel drive car is intended to be used for tactical tasks, patrolling the border, protecting roadblocks and conducting military operations in urban areas. The vehicle was demonstrated to National Guard of Ukraine chiefs, according to the company's press release on Monday.
