The Ajban SOV is a Special Operations vehicle designed and manufactured by the Company NIMR located in UAE (United Arab Emirates). The vehicle uses open-top architecture based on the Ajban military multirole vehicle. The vehicle is specially designed to perform long-range reconnaissance missions for Special Forces units. The Ajban SOV was unveiled during the edition 2015 of IDEX, the International Defence Exhibition which takes place every two years in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Army Recognition editorial has also performed a trial test of the vehicle during the Warrior Competition in Jordan, at the King Abdullah II Special Operations Training Centre (KASOTC). According to the manufacturer, the NIMR Ajban Class SOV AJBAN SOV is a light, long-range reconnaissance vehicle that can be transported by helicopter for easy insertion into any environment for self-sustained missions lasting up to two weeks. The vehicle is designed to be highly mobile in all terrains, featuring a high payload capacity to transport all necessary crew equipment, and features a roof-mounted gun for its self-defense. The Ajban SOV can be used to perform a wide range of missions as reconnaissance, patrol, border surveillance, logistics support, and command and control. In December 2016, NIMR Automotive has announced the delivery of the first SOV vehicles to the UAE Armed Forces.

The Ajban Class SOV (Special Operations Vehicle) is fitted with a ring mount weapon station mounted in the center of the vehicle which can be armed with a 7.62mm or 12.7mm machine gun. The gunner is able to turn the weapon on 360° in a few seconds. A swivel weapon station can be mounted on each door of the vehicle armed with a 5.56mm machine.

The NlMR AJBAN Special Operations Vehicle (SOV) is an open-top 4x4 long-range reconnaissance vehicle for Special Forces based on the Ajban class family of armored vehicles. The AJBAN SOV has seats for four people with two seats at the front and two at the rear and an optional 5th seat in the middle, providing all-around situational awareness and self-defense from a high-mounted gun ring and gun mounts at all crew positions. The vehicle is fitted with a tubular frame roll-bar to protect the crew from being injured in an accident, particularly in the event of a roll-over. The vehicle can optionally be fitted with a ballistic and blast armor kit to increase protection against the firing of small arms, roadside bombs (IEDs), and mine blast. The vehicle has a total gross weight of 7,500 kg with a maximum payload of 2,500 kg.
|The Ajban Class SOV (Special Operations Vehicle) is motorized with a Cummins ISBe 300 6.7l, six-cylinder diesel engine coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission Allison SP3000. The Ajjban SOV can run at a maximum speed of 110 km/hr. It has a fuel tank capacity of 180 liters allows long-range autonomous missions to a maximum cruising range of 700 km. All the AJBAN vehicles utilize the NIMR double-wishbone independent suspension portal axles fitted with coil springs and hydraulic dampers to provide outstanding mobility in all terrains. The vehicle architecture has been developed to meet the harsh desert conditions of the world but it can be also used in all climatic conditions and environments. The Ajban SOV can negotiate a gradient of 60% and side slopes of 30%. It can climb a vertical obstacle of 400mm. It can cross a water obstacle of 1 m depth.|
|Standard equipment of Ajban Class SOV (Special Operations Vehicle) includes a run-flats system, a central tire inflation system, a power management system, and a self-recovery winch mounted at the front of the vehicle. In option, the vehicle can be fitted with a wide range of other equipment including a fire extinguisher, a fire suppression system, GPS, battle management systems, night-vision and day-vision systems, observation systems, and external searchlight. A spare wheel is mounted at the rear of the vehicle and some water jerrycans can be stored at the rear of the crew compartment.|
