Discover new Russian T-90M Proryv tank and BREM-1M recovery vehicles deployed in Ukraine


Discover the new Russian T-90M Proryv main battle tanks and the BREM-1M tracked armored recovery vehicles which were recently delivered to the Russian army. According to pictures released on Russian Social networks, the T-90M and the BREM-1M are already deployed in Ukraine for combat operations.

The Russian National Guard website published a picture on April 25, 2022, showing a T-90M MBT used for combat operations in the Kharkiv region and a video was released on the Internet on May 7, 2022, showing a Russian army T-90M Main Battle Tank (MBT) destroyed near Kharkiv, a city in northeast Ukraine.

The T-90M also called T-90M Proryv is the latest generation of main battle tank in the T-90 family that was tested was tested by the Russian army in 2017 during the military exercise Zapad. This version of the T-90 was upgraded in terms of mobility, firepower, and protection thanks to experiences gained by the Russian soldiers in Syria.

The layout of the T-90M Proryv is similar to the T-90 tank with a driver at the front center of the hull, a turret in the middle with a commander and gunner, and powerpack at the rear. The tank features a new all-welded turret design protected by the Relikt ERA (Explosive Reactive Armor) armor fitted at the front and on each side of the turret.

The T-90M Proryv is armed of one 125 mm 2A46M-4 smoothbore gun able to fire standard ammunition but also anti-tank guided missiles (ATGM) Refleks NATO Code AT-11 Sniper-B. The second armament of the T-90M includes one remotely operated weapon station armed with one NSVT 12.7mm heavy machine gun mounted on the turret roof.

The T-90M Model 2017 Proryv-3 is motorized with a V-92S2 engine developing 1,000 hp coupled to a manual transmission with seven forward and one reverse gears. It can run at a maximum road speed of 60 km/h with a maximum cruising range of 550 km.

The BREM-1M is a tank recovery vehicle based on the T-90 tank without the original turret. The roof of the tank is fitted a platform area located at the rear and one crane mounted on the left side of the hull.

The BREM-1M is also equipped with a bulldozer blade mounted at the front of the hull which can be used to perform excavation and clearance missions. The vehicle also carries welding equipment and various tools to perform the repair and maintenance of heavy armored vehicles and tanks on the battlefield.
