Sandcat TPV Tactical Protector VehicleTM from Oshkosh Defense adds a strategic dimension to Special Operation missions. With a new standard in mobility, militarygrade protection and capacity for up to eight officers, it enhances access, speed and safety in urban, rural and off-road high-risk situations. The Oshkosh® SandCatTM Tactical Protector VehicleTM is a high-mobility tactical vehicle engineered to meet the challenges faced by tactical officers responding to high-risk situations like terrorist threats, hostage situations, drug interdictions and gang activities. Specifically designed to easily maneuver in tight spaces, it offers extreme mobility and military-grade protection. It incorporates a Blast Management System into the vehicle’s design which optimizes cabin structure and maximizes protection – all while maintaining a low weight ratio. And adaptations can be made based on the relevant threat levels and enhanced on demand. |

Design and protection |
As criminal organizations are increasingly armed with military-style weapons, law enforcement operations require the same level of field-tested and combat proven protection used by soldiers and Marines in Iraq, Afghanistan and other high-risk locations. Protecting officers from complex and ever increasing threats is not as easy as bolting together steel plates or even modifying conventional vehicles. Oshkosh Defense has given Sandcat TPV Tactical Protector VehicleTM the same Integrated Survivability System (ISS) used to protect lives in military zones. ISS features include protection ratings from NIJ Level I to Level IV, the capability of stopping a 7.62 ball through 14.5mm AP rounds, and under-body armor with available suspended seat systems where a potential IED threat exists. Even in its basic form, Sandact TPV Tactical Protector Vehicle™ provides protection to meet or exceed the highest vehicle armor standard established by the National Institute of Justice (NIJ), and is referred to as NIJ Level IV. The entire crew compartment is designed to meet this standard, capable of stopping a 7.62 ball through 14.5mm AP rounds, for both opaque and transparent armor. This flexible survivability system allows protection to your relevant threat level while maintaining minimum armored vehicle weight – allowing maximum payload, and placing a minimal burden on vehicle mobility. A key element in ISS armor is its dual layer ballistic design. Each ballistic panel is made up of two layers of high-hardness steel. The outer layer is the strike face, engineered to provide the first layer of protection from incoming rounds. The strike face is then laminated to a ballistic layer to complete the protection system. Sandcat TPV Tactical Protector Vehicle™ can also be equipped with optional, deployable underbody skip shields which, when deployed, prevent rounds from passing below the vehicle. They are an ideal solution for protecting personnel using the vehicle itself as a shield or in officer-down or citizen-down rescue scenarios.

The Sandcat TPV is motorized with an 6.4l V8 Diesel engine coupled to an TorqShift® 5-speed electronic automatic gearbox transmission with overdrive.
