The NIMR Ajban Class is a family of 4x4 military and security vehicles developed, designed, and manufactured by the Company NIMR Automotive in the United Arab Emirates. This range of vehicles provides a multipurpose platform for all military requirements at 9 tonnes capacity from utility vehicles to fully protected patrol vehicles. A universal 4x4 chassis is utilized for a common logistic footprint to the user to minimize the burden of training, maintenance, and spare parts management. All vehicles in the Ajban Class can be protected, and specific protected models are included for crew survivability with fully tested and certified cabins. The modular configuration of the vehicles allows for multi-mission variants to suit the user requirements and NIMR engineering can develop bespoke configurations from the base vehicle architecture if required.

Ajban 420 : Logistic and utility 4x4 vehicle with a two-man cabin and cargo bed that can be integrated with a variety of mission system loads.
Ajban 440: Logistic and utility 4x4 vehicle with a four man cabin and cargo bed. Can be fitted with a roof-mounted gun ring for self-defense to provide a versatile platform.
Ajban 440A : Protected patrol 4x4 vehicle with a four-man cabin armored against IED, blast, and ballistic threats. Fitted for mission communications and self-defense with a roof-mounted weapon.
Ajban 450: Logistic and utility 4x4 vehicle with a four-man station wagon cabin. Can be fitted with a roof-mounted gun ring for self-defense.
Ajban ISV: Internal security 4x4 vehicle fitted with a hardened 10-man cabin and equipped with gun ports, roof hatches, and an integrated camera-based situational awareness coupled to a fleet-to-base intercommunication system. Optionally fitted with crowd control optical and audible deterrents
Ajban SOV: Open top 4x4 long-range reconnaissance vehicle for 4 crew with an optional 5th seat, for special operations, providing all-round situational awareness and self-defense from a high mounted gun ring and gun mounts at all crew positions. Can optionally be fitted with ballistic and blast protection.
The Ajban Long Range Special Operations Vehicle (LRSOV) is an open-top 4x4 long-range reconnaissance vehicle designed for use by Special Forces. Light and powerful, capable of accessing all terrains in addition to being helicopter transportable, the vehicle can be customized to accommodate a range of user-specified equipment.
Depending on the version, the NIMR Ajban Class Vehicles can be fitted with a large range of man-operated and remote combat systems and weapon stations including; roof-mounted gun ring, high-mounted gun rings and gun mounts of different types: light and medium machine guns (7.62×51mm NATO and 5.56×45mm NATO), heavy machine gun (NATO .50 BMG,12,7x99mm NATO). The Ajban Class vehicles can also be equipped with a grenade launcher (40×53 mm Grenade) and gun ports.
|Design and protection|
The NIMR Ajban vehicles use a universal 4x4 chassis with a front-mounted engine. The vehicle can be manned by two to ten crew members. The Ajban is available in various configurations including single-cabin cargo, double-cabin cargo, station wagon, and open-top long-range vehicle. depending on the variant, it is outfitted with two or four lateral doors (except for the open-top version), plus one rear door for the ISV version. The Ajban class has a gross weight of 7,5 to 10.5 tons depending on the model.
The Ajban Class features variants with a high degree of protection to enhance the survivability of the crew from roadside IEDs, under-vehicle mines, and ballistic threats. These tested and certified vehicles provide for physical crew security, with the roof-mounted self-defense weapons and integrated command and control and mission systems providing additional crew survivability.
The Ajban Class vehicles can be armored with different levels of ballistic and blast protection depending on the variant and customer needs. The vehicles can receive standard ballistic protection up to STANAG level IV (The armor can resist to 14.5×114mm at 200 meters with 911 m/s) and standard blast protection up to STANAG level III (a,b) (The armor can resist to the explosion of an 8 kg (explosive mass) Blast AT Mine).
|All the NIMR Ajban vehicles utilize the NIMR double wishbone independent suspension portal axles fitted with coil springs and hydraulic dampers to provide outstanding mobility in all terrains. Vehicle architecture has been developed to meet the harsh desert conditions of the world but is equally capable in all climatic conditions and environments. With steep approach and departure angles, a full Central Tyre Inflation System and Run Flat Tires as standard, and a high power-to-weight ratio, the NIMR AJBAN Class provides the user with the performance required to complete the mission. |
The base platform utilizes a six-cylinder in-line diesel engine producing 300hp in standard form with 360hp available as an option. The fully automatic power shift transmission is mated to the NIMR two-speed drop box and provides drive to the NIMR fully independent double wishbone portal axles. This provides high ground clearance and, coupled with full differential locking and central tire inflation, ensures outstanding tactical mobility. The Ajban vehicle can run at a maximum road speed of 110 km/h with a maximum cruising range of 650 km.
|The standard accessories of the NIMR Ajban include Power Management System, Run Flat Tyre, Central Tyre Inflation System, and Winch. Due to the high versatility of the Ajban Class vehicles, most of the accessories are optional. The optional accessories include Electromechanical Equipment (dozer, equalizer), Global Positioning System (GPS), Inertial Navigation System (INS), Communication and radio Systems, Intercom, Antenna Brackets, Battlefield Management System (BMS), C4I System, Camera systems for night vision and day vision, SAS (Situational Awareness System), display Monitor. It can be equipped with different kind of survivability systems such as heat signature system, RPG protection systems and Nuclear Biological and Chemical (NBC) protection.|
