Ukrainian army destroys scarce Russian Repeynik radar with M777 howitzer


According to a video published on the Facebook account of the Ukrainian Army Operational Command "North" on April 10, 2023, a reconnaissance unit of the 30th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian armed forces used drones to localized scarce Russian Repeynik radar designed to detect and track UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) and then destroyed by the 45th Separate Artillery Brigade using M777 155mm towed howitzer. The 30th Separate Mechanized Brigade is a unit of the Ukrainian Ground Forces. The M777 is a lightweight 155mm howitzer used primarily by the United States, Canada, and other allied forces as well as Ukraine. The M982 Excalibur is an advanced, GPS-guided artillery shell designed for use with 155mm howitzers, including the M777. This precision-guided projectile provides increased accuracy and range, allowing for effective engagements with minimal collateral damage. Excalibur's guidance system enables it to hit targets up to 40 kilometers away, depending on the specific variant used. When used in ideal conditions, the Excalibur has a Circular Error Probable (CEP) of around 5 meters or less.

Designed with versatility in mind, the "Repeynik" radar can be used in various latitudes and weather conditions, including coastal maritime regions.
