The Ukrainian army has published a video on Social Network showing the new development of a mobile artillery system based on a Soviet-made MT-LB multirole tracked armored vehicle fitted with an MT-12 100mm anti-tank towed gun.

The Ukrainian armed forces develop locale-made weapon systems to deal with the lack of military equipment and more specifically mobile artillery systems.
On June 29, 2022, the Army Recognition editorial team reported that Ukraine has already developed indigenous rocket launcher systems using 122mm rocket launcher tubes mounted on a Unimog light truck and an S-8 rocket launcher pod from a Ka-52 helicopter mounted on a Mitsubishi pickup used to fight Russian troops.
The MT-LB is a multipurpose tracked armored vehicle that was designed at the Kharkov Tractor Plant in Ukraine under the direction of Anatoliy Belousov in the early 1960s. It was one the most popular multirole tracked armored vehicle used in the world. It was also developed in many variants to perform a wide range of missions.
The design of the MTLB is based on a low-profile armored hull mounted on a tracked armored chassis. The hull of the MT-LB is all-welded steel armor with the crew compartment at the front, the engine immediately behind the crew compartment on the left side and the troop compartment at the rear of the hull.
For its self-protection, the vehicle is equipped with a one-man turret mounted at the front right side of the hull which is armed with one 7.62 mm PKT machine gun.
The MTLB is powered by a V-8 cylinder diesel engine developing 240 hp at 2,100 rpm coupled to a manual transmission with 6 forward and 1 reverse gears. It can run at a maximum road speed 61 km/h with a maximum cruising range of 500 km. The vehicle is fully amphibious being propelled in the water by its tracks at a maximum speed of 4,5 km/h.
The MT-12 is a 100mm anti-tank that was developed in Russia and entered into service with the Russian armed forces in 1961. The gun is operated by a six-man crew consisting of a detachment commander, driver of the towing vehicle, gun layer on the left, loader on the right, and two ammunition numbers.
The MT-12 is able to fire three types of ammunition including the APFSDS (Armor-Piercing Fin-Stabilized Discarding Sabot) with a range of 3,000 m, HEAT (High-Explosive Anti-Tank) with a range of 6,000 m, and HE (High Explosive) with a range of 8,200 m.
