World Defense Show 2024: Connecting the global defense industry to opportunities in Saudi Arabia

It is appropriate that the World Defense Show is at the heart of the Saudi pavilion at IDEX2023. The event is the emerging platform for the global defense industry and an international center for collaboration and partnership, but it also offers a unique pathway to strategic investment opportunities in the defense industry of the Kingdom, thanks to the exceptional support and participation from high-level representatives of Saudi Government entities, as well as international delegations from across the world.

WDS2024, the second edition of the show, which will take place from 4-8 February 2024 at the custom-built venue in Riyadh, has been expanded to five days, to ensure exhibitors and visitors are fully able to leverage their opportunities to network with these delegations. The future-focused show will feature an additional Preview Day, reserved for VIPs, delegations, government entities and exhibitors, as well as a range of new and enhanced features.

Andrew Pearcey, Chief Executive Officer, said: “As well as being a showcase for new technology and having daily live demonstrations, we offer a unique networking proposition for large and small companies across the supply chain. We have hubs for innovators to meet investors and daily industry discussion forums, but importantly we enable private sector companies to meet senior representatives of government entities from Saudi and across the world.

“We are an exclusive pathway to the many opportunities Saudi offers in the military, security and defense sectors, bringing the entire global defense industry together across nations, throughout the supply chain, and among diverse groups and individuals.”

The Delegations Program at WDS2024 will facilitate face-to-face meetings between ministers, heads of state, chiefs of staff and other high-ranking officials from 115 delegations representing more than 50 countries, with the 700 prime and SME exhibiting companies expected. The extended B2B Connect program will also offer unrivalled networking opportunities for exhibitors and visitors.

Founded by the General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI), the show will offer exceptional access to senior representatives of Saudi government entities, with active support from the Ministry of Defense as Main Partner, President of State Security, Ministry of National Guard, Ministry of Interior, and General Intelligence.

Pearcey said: “The support of so many government bodies reinforces the national commitment to the growth and success of the defense sector and our role in connecting the global defense industry. The show is dedicated to creating the ultimate B2B event for the defense industry in support of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 ambition to localize 50 percent of domestic defense equipment and services expenditure.”

WDS 2024 will showcase the future of defense across five domains; air, land, sea, space, and security, under the banner 'Equipped For Tomorrow'. The new banner highlights the future-focused nature of the show, creating new, competitive jobs and opportunities, diversifying the supply chain, and achieving a more inclusive defense sector.
